Do You Have A Road Map To Your Personal Growth Vision?
Mark, a determined professional in a big city, was at a crossroads in pursuing personal growth. Lost in the hustle and bustle and life decisions, he stumbled upon a familiar coffee shop.
Seated at a corner table, Mark started an innocent conversation with a stranger— unbeknownst to Mark, the gentleman was a seasoned life coach. The coach shared a compelling story of triumph over adversity, emphasizing the indispensable need for a roadmap in the journey of personal growth. Mark realized the profound impact of intentional choices and meaningful connections in that moment.
The coffee shop encounter wasn't just a chance but a serendipitous guidepost on Mark's quest for growth. And much like Mark, we grapple with choices, seek direction, and thirst for a roadmap to personal development (no pun intended).
"Deliberately seek the company of people who influence you to think and act on building the life you desire." – Napoleon Hill.
Serendipity is not a strategy. Life will often lead you to these coffee shop moments, but as Napoleon Hill stated, we must deliberately seek the company of people who impact, influence, and nourish our vision.
Your roadmap will need the following:
1. Identify Your Core Values
Your core values serve as a compass in your journey. Many opportunities will arise; to some, you should say no, and to others, you should say yes. How do you determine which one to say yes to and which to say no to? You look at your core values and what opportunity best aligns with your core values. If this opportunity puts you in a position to betray your values, then it is an opportunity you should say no to.
2. Define Success
Success is a specific yet evolving endpoint; even when I reach an endpoint, another will appear. So, when I set my goals, I have to be specific about what Success will look like for that goal—knowing that the accomplishment of one goal leads to the revelation of another.
3. Establish Specific Goals
You may have heard of the acronym SMART goals, which became SMARTER goals. I, however, work in establishing LIFE goals, and here's what it means:
L - Legacy: Establish goals that contribute to building a lasting legacy, positively impacting future generations.
I - Intention: Set goals with clear intention, aligning your actions with your values and purpose.
F - Fulfillment: Aim for goals that bring genuine fulfillment and joy to your life, ensuring they resonate with your passions.
E - Evolution: Embrace goals that foster personal and professional growth, allowing continuous evolution and learning.
The road map that I've used to create personal, spiritual, and professional growth in my life. But there is one more key element: those coffee shop moments. However, as I mentioned, serendipity is not a strategy; therefore, you must create those coffee shop moments. And how do we do this?
