Previously, I had a Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and unfortunately, I let my daughter (my 6-year-old) use it, and it dropped out of her hands, messing up the inside screen and the outside. The bill to get it fixed would be like buying a new phone, so instead, I am using my wife's old phone, a Samsung S22. But I was getting ready to buy a new phone, and of course, I looked at the Google Pixel Fold. However, I was surprised and disappointed to see that little changes or updates have happened from the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold to the Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold; so, I began to look around.
In my search, I looked at everything minus iPhone. I'm just not a fan of iOS. And as customary, I even did a search for BlackBerry. In my search, I recalled holding my BlackBerry Bold, and from time to time, I remember those days.
My most recent search brought me back to an old familiar name, CrackBerry Kevin, and to my surprise, he was leading the charge of bringing back BlackBerry. It wasn't a surprise that he was leading the charge, only how aggressive he seemed to be, saying, "I'll bring back BlackBerry or die trying."
This led me to Clicks. Clicks had released a keyboard you could attach to your phone, and while I had seen this in passing, it wasn't what I wanted. But Clicks was doing more than making keyboards; they were making a phone. While BlackBerry is gone, the spirit is alive! And the more I found out, the more I wanted to know. I've watched every video and short they've released on YouTube and listened to countless podcasts.
Finally, it was time to make a decision: do I invest $1,200.00 USD in a phone that has made little to no changes, or do I invest in a device that is challenging the status quo? It should not be overlooked, the price of the Clicks Communicator is $499.00 (until October 1st, 2026).
On September 28th, I made my decision: I'm taking my talents to Clicks Communicator.
I'm writing this because I'm excited for the phone to arrive, and writing helps my nerves. But I'm also writing this thinking about how many tools we use that are keeping us stuck, whether that be a phone or a laptop or a way of studying or a strategy. We often keep seeing the same results without ever questioning the tools. We question our decisions, our attitude, our friends, and ourselves, but what about the tools we're using? Are they serving us or enslaving us? I'm ditching the status quo, not chasing nostalgia, but what's moving you? Yeah, this is an article about the next phone I'm getting, but it's also about so much more.
